Creating 3D Vanishing Point on a 2D image in Photoshop CS4
The 3D vanishing point creates a 3D scene from any regular 2D image. This feature is really interesting but it does have some limitations. One of the limitation is the image quality decreases after you apply the 3D vanishing point to the image.
First, you will need to open up an image. Next, you will need to set up the 3D gride/plane and have it follow the perspective of the image. The first gride/plane will be the most important because if you mess up the first one, it will affect the rest of the image.

1. When you have the image open, select in the Layer panel, go to Filter > Vanishing Point
2. You are now in the Vanishing Point window. Click on the “Create Plane Tool” on the top left.
3. Create a new plane on the image by clicking on the four points. For best result, make sure your plane is accurately aline to the perspective of the image.
4. To add the second plane, go to one of the edge of the first plane. Click, hold CRT and drag out the second plane.
5. On the second plane, hold ALT and click to resize the plane to match the image perspective.
6. Click on “Return 3D Layer to Photoshop” on the top left corner. Also, you can export the file to .DXF (Auto Cad), .3DS (3D Max) and .VPE (After Effects).
When you click on “Return 3D Layer to Photoshop”, and then click OK, a new 3D layer is created. This is the 3D vanishing point where you can use the 3D rotate tool to view the vanishing point from different angles.
Basically, you are making these gride/plane to follow the contours of the image. When you are done it is going to allow Photoshop to wrap that image around the plane. Now it is a 3D object created from a 2D image.
