Creating primitive 3D shapes with Photoshop CS4
With Photoshop CS4, you can now create primitive 3D objects. To do this you will need to create a new layer, fill the layer with a color, go to the 3D menu, click on “New Shape From Layer” and select the 3D object you would like to create.
The color of the 3D object will depend on the layer color. The layer color will become the texture of the 3D object.
In the “New Shape From Layer”, you will have different primitive 3D objects to select. These 3D primitives are Cone, Cube, Cylinder, Donut, Hat, Pyramid, Ring, Soda Can, Sphere, Spherical Panorama, and Wine Bottle.

Once you have created the 3D primitive object, you will have full access to scale and resize the 3D primitive object.
Here is an example of creating a 3D eye ball with a primitive object inside Photoshop.
1. First, create an eye. Resize the eye about 50% horizontally.
2. Use sphere from 3D > New Shape From Layer > Sphere
3. Here is the 3D eye using the 3D primitive object.
Another cool 3D primitive object you should try is the Spherical Panorama.
1. Open up a panorama image. Go to the 3D menu > New Shape From Layer > Spherical Panorama
2. With the Slide 3D Object tool selected, click and drag on the 3D panorama image out a bit, but not too far or you will be outside of the 3D sphere. Then click on the Rotate 3D Object.
What is happening is the panorama image is now inside of a 3D sphere and you are now looking inside of the 3D sphere.
