Facebook beat Google for most visited

The new champion for the most visited website in US is now Facebook, according to Hitwise a company which gather data and statics on internet usage.

According to Hitwise Facebook is now beating Google for most visited website in the week ending of March 13, 2010.

I guess many people do their search on Google and when they are done searching the internet they head over to Facebook. Also, since Facebook is the largest social media network in North America and most of Facebook’s content are inside of Facebook.

It is not surprising Facebook visits surpass Google. Google is a search engine, people do their searches and then they click on the links in the search result, which brings them to another website. After the user click on the external links to other websites, the user leaves Google and it does not track the users visiting those websites.

I would like to see the statistics on how many unique visitors Google and Facebook get. That would be interesting.

Also, not everyone go to www.Google.com to do their search, most people and including myself use Firefox search toolbar to search Google.

I wonder what Bing and Yahoo! are doing with all of this.
