Will run on existing hardware

Microsoft promise Windows 8 will run on existing hardware, this is great news, if this is true, you will not get any compatibility issues and wasting time to search for new drivers.

I remember when I upgraded from XP to Vista, I had problems with my hardware drivers and eventually I had to reinstall XP and wasted my about 2 days. Hopefully this won’t repeat itself.

Faster boot time

One of the first thing you will notice is to boot up time, with Windows 8 you will get faster start up time than Windows 7. If you have SSD, you will significantly notice the quicker boot up time speed. Some said it took a whole 8 seconds for Windows 8 to boot up with SSD.

Windows 8 on USB memory stick

This is call Windows To Go, which allow you to make a copy of Windows 8 with all the settings, files and software all stored into your USB memory stick (and other storage like DVD, external hard drive).

Once you have transfer everything to the USB memory stick, you can plugged it to another laptop or computer that already has Windows 8 install and you will have everything, including your settings on a different computer. No more installing missing software or files, just put all your essential software and you’re good to go.

Windows 8 Live Sync

This is similar with Windows To Go, except you will need to login with “Live ID” to be able to get your own personally settings on any Windows 8 computers. The desktop will always look the same according to your settings once you login with your “Live ID”.

Dual monitor with customize taskbar

With Windows 8, you will be able to have the option to have Taskbar on every single monitor you have connected. You can also pick different wallpapers for each monitor.

Tablets and other touch screen devices

Windows 8 will incorporate Metro style interface that’s optimized for touch screens.

Better search

There will be no search box on the lower left corner, all you have to do is type in anywhere on your desktop to search all the matching applications and files instantly.
