Google scam

Google may be a noun and a verb but it is not a scam. In fact the leading Internet giant is cracking down on spammers using its name Google to steal money from unexpected consumers.

Google said a definite increase in the problems since the recessions and receiving hundreds of complaints every month. If you factor in the scams that are not reported, there could be thousands of victims out there and millions of dollars last. Google filed a lawsuit last night to take the fight to the alleged scammers and hopefully educate consumers along the way.

You probably see ads on the internet with Google’s name promising thousands of dollars working from home.

Google fraud

An unemployed worker says he paid $.99 for materials but did not receive any. Then he was billed a nearly $50 dollars on his debit card. Money that could help him pay his electricity bill. His family power was turned off last week.

Google is now taking action filing this lawsuit.

In 2008 it’s cost Americans $264.6 million for online fraud. Shawn Henry of the FBI said skepticism may be the consumers best defense.

Skepticism is the most important, be as skeptical as you can be off-line and be skeptical online.
