How to Cross Section a 3D object with Photoshop CS4

When you import any 3D object into Photoshop, you will have the ability to use the Cross Section option. To do this you simply click on the 3D layer and checkmark the Cross Section box inside the 3D Scene panel.

The Cross Section contains different options. You can change the different settings of the plane that is displaying the cross section in the 3D object, you can change the color of the plane, increase or decrease the opacity of the plane or remove the cross section plane completely.

You can check mark Intersection, which allow you to see the outline of the cross section and the ability to change the color. Also you can use Flip Cross Section to reverse the cross section.

Lastly, you can move the cross section on XYZ by clicking on X-Axis, Y-
Axis
or Z-Axis. You also have the ability to tilt the cross section by adjusting the Offset, Tilt A and Tilt B.

You can even animate the cross section by using the animation panel in the 3D menu. 3D / Animation

The Cross Section tool is a great option for people who work in architectural and engineering.
