How to save or export 3D object in Photoshop CS4

When you import any 3D object into Photoshop and made some changes inside Photoshop. How do you save or export that 3D object out of Photoshop so it will be compatible with your 3D application?

To do this you simply go to: File / Save As…

And you would save it as .PSD format. The .PSD containing the 3D object will be independent from all other 3D files. The .PSD file will not link to any other source file because the 3D object is already imported and embedded into the .PSD file. This allows you to place the .PSD file anywhere you want without worrying about the source 3D file.

If you want to export 3D objects from Photoshop to your 3D application. Here’s how to do it:

1. Make sure you select the correct 3D layer in the layers panel.

2. Then go to: 3D / Export 3D Layer…

Export 3D Layer...

3. Select the file format you would like to save your 3D object as.

4. The only file format you cannot export to is .3DS
That’s it!
