How to write a post on WordPress

In this tutorial, I will show you how to write a new blog post using WordPress.

First, login to your WordPress website and you will be in your dashboard area. Click on Posts on the left column and on the drop-down click Add New.

Now you will be in the “Add New Post” page and in the middle of it all is what we called a WYSIWYG text editor. At the top, you will write your headline, and below that, you will write your text.

You can see a bar (see image below), which is similar to Microsoft word. You can highlight your text and click bold or you can italicize, strike through, unordered list, order list, you can also right justified, center, left justified, add upload image files, and videos. That is the main function of the text editor.

Also currently, you are in the visual editor but you have to option to click on the HTML editor if you need to paste in some sort of code or you prefer to write in HTML. For example, if you need to insert a YouTube video you can click on HTML tap and paste in the embed code.

Then on the right hand column. There is a Preview button also a Publish button and below that there are your tags and Categories.

The categories would probably be the one you will be using more than tags. You can see if there is no categories that you like you can always add new category by clicking on the Add New Category link.

Once you finish writing your post, you can click on Publish. Wait a few seconds for the website to update itself and then you should see at the top of the page a link called view post. Click on it to see your new post on your website and at anytime you may come back to edit, modify the same post or even delete it.
