PSD Thumbnail Viewer on Windows Explorer for Windows 7, Vista & XP – 32 & 64
I been using Microsoft Vista Ultimate 64-bit ever since it came out. At the time, there was nothing I can do to be able to view my PSD thumbnails with Windows Explorer. I had it working on my Windows XP but not on the Vista 64 bit.
For some reason Adobe want us to use Bridge to view our PSD. I find Bridge to be a little complicate, takes a lot of resource but most importantly I feel more comfortable to use Windows Explorer.
It has been at least a year since I last search for the PSD thumbnail viewer for my Vista 64 and I finally found something that will display PSD thumbnails on Windows Explorer on Vista 64bit. There are a few methods, the first method was to download some large software from Microsoft and install them. I tried that method but I got some errors while installing one of the software.
The second method is to install something called MysticThumbs and it work for my Vista 64bit. You can download directly from this site with the links below or go to MysticThumbs website. You might have to reboot your PC after the installation. In my case it did not work after I rebooted but when I shut off my PC and turn it back on again. Everything seems to be working.
Also, MysticThumbs works on .psd files and .tga aka Targa files.

Known Issue
- Thumbs may not appear immediately after installation – please restart Windows (or Explorer via Task Manager for expert users) for MysticThumbs to take effect.
- PSD should work on all images – if you don’t save with Photoshop’s ‘Maximize Compatibility’ option the 160×160 embedded thumbnail will be used.
- Please note that older versions are no longer available.
